Recently, we asked the team one anonymous survey question. The responses were a lot of fun, so we thought we’d share them here.
If you had to describe our company as an animal, what animal would it be, and why?
A butterfly
As a small business, we’re in the caterpillar stage, making our way, growing, on the peripheral of people’s notice but appreciated by those that do see us. As we grow and develop into a butterfly, we’ll be catching everyone’s eye.
A kangaroo
Built in mail pouch.
A cockroach
No matter how many times people say direct mail is dead they can’t get rid of it.
A black Labrador retriever

Trustworthy, gentle, agile, intelligent, friendly, even-tempered, of service. And when necessary—a fierce advocate (in our case, for our client’s needs, goals, and

business).

A wolf
Social. Family-oriented. Takes good care of its family. Aggressive when need be. Stakes a territory larger than needed to establish a plentiful supply of prey. Excellent communicator. And hell, we are hungry like a wolf, damnit!
A polar bear
Like polar bears, Gunderson is a rare breed of marketing expertise. We are well adapted to survive in one of the harshest environments on our planet—the marketing world! Like these magnificent mammals, Gunderson has an incredible sense of smell (knowledge), which we
use to track our favorite grub—clients (seals). In fact, their sense of smell is so good, they can sniff out prey from up to 16km away—or from CA to Boston in our case!
A jaguar
We’re nimble on our feet, we are thoughtful and think about the best plan of attack on projects, and lastly, we are a force to be reckoned with in our competitive environment.
The wolf

With an innate understanding of the value of teamwork, it’s always ready to take its place in the chain of command either as leader or simply as a member of the pack. When a wolf decides to innovate, it makes sure that it has the backing of a capable team. The wolf is clear-headed and strong-minded, always willing to compromise in the interest of getting a job done. Wolves are intensely ambitious and never shy from hard work. Socially adept, they function well in leadership and management roles as well as in jobs requiring vision and strength of character. Wolves are natural motivators, and their instinctive understanding of group dynamics serves them well in goal-oriented tasks.

They demand absolute loyalty, and they provide the same allegiance to their employees. Their ability to perform under pressure helps them attain the highest executive levels, They have strong communication instincts.

A shark
Fast, hungry, aggressive, turns on a dime, never looks back.
A dog
A dog is man’s best friend, and GD is a client’s best friend. We’re loyal, fiercely protective of our clients, and try to do anything in our power to help them succeed. We’re playful and can be goofy sometimes, but we are also earnest and dependable. If mistakes happen, we own up to them and try to make it up to the client. We’re not like those other agencies that are more like cats: aloof, self-interested, and so serious all the time.
A cheetah
Not the most ferocious in the jungle, but every bit as cunning and successful in hunting.
